Sustainability Cafés: informal dialogues on the sustainable future of Italian wine
Sustainability "cafés" with a quick and agile format, TED style, have become part of SIMEI. Informal talks about sustainability lasting half an hour, with experts and representatives of companies who, talking about practical experiences at a scientific and business level, showed how the wine sector has embarked on the path of sustainability in a decisive way, starting from the project of a "sustainable winery" to arrive at how to successfully apply good social, environmental and economic practices.
In the morning, the "cafés" focused on the "container", that is, the cellar, meant as a physical place, and therefore on the design of a sustainable cellar with criteria aimed at saving resources, using materials with less impact and respecting the landscape and the surrounding communities. In the afternoon, on the other hand, the meetings centred on recounting the experiences of experts and representatives of companies, i.e. people who, working for and with companies in the sector in various roles, brought specific cases of good sustainable management practices.
