

CRAFT SPIRITS: NEW TECHNOLOGIES AT SIMEI
A growing phenomenon, attracting new segments of consumers attentive to new products but which requires mastery in production and specific technologies. It is the world of craft spirits, which exploded in the United States and in turn involved several European countries such as France and naturally the United Kingdom with England and Scotland first and foremost. Even Italy, more recently, has thrown itself into the fray. Starting practically from scratch, today it counts around forty active stills with twenty new openings expected every year over the next four years.
Gin, whisky and brandy are the most popular products, but which technologies are used to make them? This is the question, because we are not just talking about stills, but about everything needed starting from the management of the raw material, so fermenters and everything closely related, up to distillers, but also packaging, labels and last but not least marketing strategies.
In the SIMEI 2024 hallsit has been possible to interact with exhibitors who brought machinery, equipment and in general all the technological discoveries essential for the "master distiller".
