Lifestyle, Diet, Wine and Health: first scientific papers of the special issue released

Scientific research on the relationship between lifestyle, diet, wine and health continues to evolve. The Wine Information Council has announced the publication of the first two papers of the special issue “Lifestyle, Diet, Wine and Health” in the journal Nutrients. This initiative follows the international congresses held in Toledo and Rome, which brought together leading experts in nutrition, medicine and public health to discuss the role of lifestyle factors in disease prevention.

The first paper explores the relationship between alcohol consumption and sleep, highlighting that while alcohol may help individuals fall asleep faster, it negatively affects sleep quality and REM phases. The second paper addresses the ongoing scientific debate on wine and health, pointing to conflicting evidence and the need for further high-quality research, particularly randomized controlled trials.

As a partner of Wine in Moderation, SIMEI actively supports these initiatives and strongly believes in the value of the programme, which promotes responsible and moderate wine consumption as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Further articles in the special issue are expected in the coming months.
