When Beer meets the grape...

Wednesday 16th November

10.30 a.m. - Conference Room hall 2

I.G.A. Beer Challenge 2022 - 2nd edition Award Ceremony

Italy has always been synonymous with good food and good wine throughout the world, yet the "Bel paese" is also leaving its mark in the brewing sector too, especially with the start of an all-Italian style:  Italian Grape Ales.

These are beers whose recipes include a percentage of grapes or grape must. This addition, given the enormous quantity of vines, creates endless combinations of taste and aromas. The addition can take place at different stages of the production process, from boiling to maturation, and can be of very different fruit derivatives such as pomace or must (even cooked or fermented).

There are more and more Italian and foreign master brewers trying their hand at this type of production with excellent results and increasing positive feedback all over the world. To help promote Italian Grape Ales, and in a broader sense Italian craft beer, an International Competition has been set up, which is now in its second year. The competition culminates at Fiera Milano on the occasion of the prestigious SIMEI, the international trade fair of reference for wine and bottling machinery.

The official moment of the award ceremony will end with the gala lunch arranged by the fair organisers, after which it will be possible to meet the brewers to find out more about their productions.
