What will be the true benefits of the Global Reference Standard on sustainable wine?

Wednesday 16th November
3.00 p.m. - Conference Room hall 3

The Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR) is a unique coalition – the only global, independent roundtable to include all stakeholders in the wine sector. Working together, we will define sustainable wine in practical detail and develop a global sustainability reference standard.

It’s clear from many conversations that a clear definition of sustainability in wine would be helpful. It is also clear that this must take account of local conditions and the work of local, regional and national standards and certification schemes. So is there value in bringing together best practice on sustainability in wine? In this session the panel will discuss how drawing together learnings from around the world can benefit the wine industry. We will also discuss the challenges, pitfalls and barriers to doing so.

Speakers:

Marcus Ihre - Sustainability Manager, Systembolaget
Juan Munoz Oca - Chief Winemaker, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates
Stefano Stefanucci - Director, EQUALITAS
Michele Manelli - Vice President of EQUALITAS and Owner of Salcheto Winery

Moderator: Dr. Peter Stanbury -Head of Research, Sustainable Wine Roundtable
