Sustainability, quality and control systems to relaunch the Italian olive and oil sector

The Italian olive and olive oil sector risks not surviving if it does not make a decisive choice that will detach it from the low-cost competition of its rivals. After dominating the sector for years, overseeing both the production areas and the final markets, the Italian olive-oil supply chain has lowered its guard and today is fragile and vulnerable, chased by increasingly fierce followers. Sustainability, quality and control systems are just some of the international dossiers where Italy can strengthen its identity and regain a place on the front row.
