Competition Rules
Participation in the Concorso Birra Italiana is free of charge and open to all craft beers produced by small independent breweries with an annual production below 200,000 hectolitres. To ensure maximum transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain, each beer entered in the competition must indicate, at the time of registration, the supplier of the raw materials used in its production. Participating samples must be delivered to Milan by 16 November 2026 in order to be assessed by the official jury.
Prizes: 18 Medals and a Special Award
The awards of the Concorso Birra Italiana will celebrate the excellence of Italian brewing productions and the virtuous use of Italian raw materials.
Prizes will be awarded through Gold, Silver and Bronze medals across the different categories:
- 100% Italian Beer Award – dedicated to top- and bottom-fermented beers made with Italian raw materials;
- 100% Italian Malt Beer Award – dedicated to top- and bottom-fermented beers produced with Italian malt;
- 100% Italian Hop Beer Award – dedicated to top- and bottom-fermented beers that enhance the use of Italian hops.
The awards programme will be completed by the: “F.I.L.O.” Supply Chain Special Award. A special recognition dedicated to the brewery that best represents a complete and virtuous supply chain, from the cultivation of raw materials through to beer production. The award takes its name from the F.I.L.O. project – Filiera Italiana Luppolo e Orzo (Italian Hop and Barley Supply Chain), an initiative funded through the Italian PNRR funds and dedicated to the development of the Italian supply chain for hops and brewing barley.
The beers entered in the competition will be evaluated by a jury composed of experts, beer tasters and industry professionals, coordinated by the Unione Degustatori di Birre.

- Lorenzo Dabove “Kuaska” – beer expert and industry communicator
A further three members are currently being confirmed and will complete the jury panel.
